FLIGHT: torn like a rose

October 31, 2019 @ 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 8:00 pm, repeating until November 2, 2019

Co-sponsored by the Nelson Institute, Peggy Choy Dance brightens Madison skies with “FLIGHT: torn like a rose” on Oct. 31, Nov. 1-2. Inspired by the Persian 12th c. poem, Conference of the birds, by Farid ud-Din Attar, the world’s birds embark on a dangerous journey in search of the Wondrous Rose of Love Sublime. A small band of diverse species birds survive making a surprising discovery. New York dancers Ze Motion, Autumn Harms, Yuriko Miyake and Xavier Townsend join Peggy Choy and Madison’s own Lacouir Yancey to perform electrifying Afro Asian fusion. FLIGHT is an allegory with multiple interpretations – one being how the climate crisis has wreaked havoc on the world’s birds, causing bird populations to dwindle dramatically. Shows Oct. 31, Nov. 1 at 8pm, final matinee is Nov. 2 at 2:30.
